110825 Game Flow/Plot Overview Working Session--Act III

From DoctorWhen

30 weeks to go!

Allen, Erik, and Wei-Hwa met.

STATUS REPORTS

Allen, Erik, and Wei-Hwa have completed their overview of the game flow/plot for Acts I & II. Their notes so far are contained in the "Meeting Notes" section of our wiki. They are adjusting the script and will have a more thorough list of unresolved issues ready for an upcoming meeting.

Phone banks for GC--Lisa put us in touch with someone at Microsoft who may be willing to set it up for us through the TellMe service. Allen also identified a list of 5 other services that might work.

LOCATION SCOUTING

Erik is now confident that we can book Highlands Elementary School (a 7 minute walk from the Rec Center!) for our lab set (the Rec Center will be our science fair location).

  • Shoresh to proceed with set design for these two locations
  • We need to find a way to buy/rent some lockers for the Rec Center, since there won't be any on location

Allen investigated whether we could get a coffeehouse to host as location for our Art History puzzle. Happily the first two he visited were quite open to it--which suggests that we won't have too much trouble making formal arrangements with some coffeehouse. We discussed which city is the optimal location for the "Museum of Pretentious Art." We agreed that San Mateo was as good as any. (Any location between Mountain View and San Mateo should be fine.) So Allen will follow up with a particularly promising location, Kaffeehaus in San Mateo.

URGENCY

We noted that it is approximately 5 months till our full playtest. This isn't really much time, especially considering winter holidays will occur during this period.

So we'll all have to start working even more steadily to meet that deadline.

In particular, we should attempt to encourage our extended GC team to contribute more. We'll try to make it easier for them to do so by clearly defining certain self-contained tasks that need to be accomplished and by proactively contacting them via phone or personal email.

TASKS

Allen mentioned three tasks that need to be done:

  • Someone to review proposed list of props for Wesley's bedroom
  • Someone to review draft day-of-game control document--Wei-Hwa volunteered to take a look
  • Someone to draft list of GC headquarters equipment needed

OVERVIEW OF GAME FLOW/PLOTLINE

We reviewed Act III and thus completed the whole game.

  • We will document our recommendations and present to the group
