110707 Meeting Notes--Update On Priorities + Playtest

From DoctorWhen

37 weeks to go!

Allen, David, Erik, Melissa, & Sean met.

PRIORITIES

Allen is still in the process of working out target dates for milestones for each functional area. However, it already appears that we'll actually need to announce our game in early November. (See the "Doctor When Combined Due Dates" shared Google document for more details.)

Based on work to date, it appears that that highest priority tasks in each area are:

Props/gadgets--

  • Get gadget guy and get science fair exhibits made. This gates making the script videos.
  • Get Acorn to make portable tachyon detector device since this gates script videos.

Locations--Resolve location of science fair. This gates making the script videos.

Puzzles--

  • Finalize encoding on calibration (and get hi-res video from Wei-Hwa). This gates making the video.
  • Figure out art history puzzle. This gates the work of Sarah and her team to create the modified art.
  • Solidify text of Choose Your Own Adventure puzzle. This gates Rigel's graphics work.

Sets--Get work schedule done.

Costumes--No crises...get work schedule done. Create Doctor When's costume first since it gates the calibration puzzle video shoot.

Videos--Create the calibration puzzle first since it doesn't require a set, just a green screen.

Web Site & Graphics--Teaser page and then Trenchwood site.

DOCTOR WHEN WEB SITE

David presented a draft teaser page to be placed on www.doctorwhen.com (created by David and Rigel). It was received enthusiastically. Some suggestions were elicited. David and Rigel will review the suggestions and revise as appropriate...and then take the site live.

PLAYTESTING

David and Allen playtested the current version of the calibration puzzle. It was received enthusiastically and some suggestions were made. Erik and Wei-Hwa will probably test it with one more set of testers, since David and Allen were slightly "polluted" by participating in a partial test of an earlier version.

++++++++++++++++++++++++

As always, revisions, comments, etc. are welcome.

See you all on Thursday.

Allen
