Comments: This is a well-known "do it yourself space." Lots of big Burning Man projects are created here. They also have a reputation for some crazy creative parties...which gives me hope that they would rent the space.

Update: I visited on 11/16 and met with Michael Snook. He was jazzed about our project and happy to rent to us. Pricing won't be a problem. The only problem is that starting in June they have greater and greater need for their space to create Burning Man projects.

The inside is enormous and full of wacky art pieces. I think it would be excellent for a mad scientist's lair. Plenty of parking across the street. Good freeway access.

Visited on 10/18/10 by Allen. However, no one was home so I could only peer in through the window.

Comments: This is a well-known "do it yourself space." Lots of big Burning Man projects are created here. They also have a reputation for some crazy creative parties...which gives me hope that they would rent the space.

I only was able to peek through the windows of one of the buildings, but it appears that the second one is even larger than the one I could see into. So there's more to NIMBY than what I was able to photograph.

The geographic location is very industrial in West Oakland. I'm not familiar with the area so I don't know how safe it is or isn't, nor whether it's near any restaurants, etc.

I've left several messages on their phone line, but none have been returned. I will email Michael Snook and see if that gets more response...
